The medieval night at Castillo San Miguel, also known as San Miguel Castle, is Tenerife’s dinner show with knights, horses and a tournament you’re expected to take sides in.
The evening starts in the Royal Hall, where you’re welcomed by royalty and led through to the tournament hall, past period armour, chests and decorations. You take your seat in the box as a guest of the count, and dinner is served with wine and water while the show goes on in front of you.
Two teams face each other, with six knights competing on horseback with javelin and sword. One of them represents you, so you cheer for him and boo the others, loudly, as the crowd would have done in the Middle Ages. Alongside the contests there are acrobatics on Spanish horses, a display of birds in flight and a fire show.
